In November we are happy to partner with the Western Service Workers Association. The Santa Cruz Western Service Workers Association is an all-volunteer run local organization dedicated to organizing and supporting low-income workers. They support low-wage workers by providing them with cooperative assistance and networking. They also provide emergency food, clothing, non-emergency dental care, preventative medical care, child care assistance, job referral and legal advice for local workers.
Friday, November 21st
The WSWA is holding an emergency dental clinic from 8 am-5 pm, and they desperately need people to help with taking notes. They have a hygienist who does basic cleaning and then identifies the critical work their clients need done, which unfortunately, is quite often. The WSWA needs people who can sit nearby and copy down the comments that the hygienist makes and possibly help with some other small jobs. The WSWA operations manager, Stephanie, says this is a very busy day and that they need really help. Volunteers can come for any portion of the day that they are available. All interested volunteers should contact Stephanie directly, let her know their availability and indicate that they are calling from The Service Project at Community Covenant Church.
If you are available and feel called to serve in this special way, please call Stephanie @ (831) 429-6016 to schedule a time to help.
Wednesday, November 26th
The WSWA is looking for volunteers to distribute donated food baskets for Thanksgiving to needy local worker families in the Santa Cruz County area. This is an activity that will be going on all day, and again, people can help out for as much of the day as they are able.
If you are available, have access to a car and can help, please call Stephanie @ (831) 429-6016 to sign up.
